The Best Disney Rooms for a Couples Getaway
So you are headed to Disney World for a couples getaway, just the two of you. Congratulations! So which resort rooms will be best for you?
Instead of having an extra bed to collect junk, why not look for a room that will give you a little extra space or a little extra mattress (aka a king size bed)?
While most Disney Resort rooms have two double beds or two two queen beds, there are quite a few alternatives if you want to ditch the extra bed.
King Bed Rooms
For some, a king size bed is a non-negotiable when looking to get a good night sleep on vacation. The good news is Disney has plenty of king bed rooms to offer.
You’ll notice on the Disney website that some resorts offer the king bed as an upgrade when you book.
Other resorts show no sign of having rooms with a king bed. But for many of these resorts, you simply have to put in a request with your travel agent or by calling Disney directly! And one of the benefits of these rooms is that you don’t have to pay for the upgrade to the king bed.

You can book a king bed at any of the four Moderate Resorts.
You can book a king bed at the following Deluxe Resorts.
King Bed Rooms you must request

You can request a king bed at the following Deluxe Resorts.
How to Put in a King Bed Request
You must call your Disney Resort to put in a request for a King bed. I recommend calling 2 weeks before check-in, and then again around 5 days before check-in since this is around the time they typically assign your room.
Below is a video of how to get your Disney Resort’s phone number to put in your request.
Disney Deluxe Studios
If you are wanting more floor space instead more mattress, Disney offers quite a few options.
With the exception of the Studios at Old Key West, all of the Studios at Deluxe Villas consist of one queen bed and a sleeper sofa in place of the other queen bed.
It’s always nice having a place to sit, other than on the bed, in your resort room.
The only down side you might find to this option is that you are sharing a queen bed.

Value Resorts
Disney has renovated a couple Value Resorts, and in doing so, they have ditched the two double beds concept and instead created more flexibility with rooms containing one queen bed and a Murphy table bed.
The Murphy table bed is like a regular Murphy bed that pulls down from the wall. But when it is put away, it converts into a table.
Again, this is another great option because now you have a place to sit in your room, and you also have a table if you want to eat, get some work done, or just put on your shoes.
The potential downside to this is the same as above – you are sharing a queen bed.
Also keep in mind that as of now, these are only offered at Value Resorts, which are great for your budget but may not scream “Romantic Getaway.”
