Top 16 Tips to Beat the Heat at Disney World: Stay Cool and Enjoy Your Trip

Check out our “Scorching Days at Disney” idea list in our Amazon Storefront.
Beating the heat at Disney World is crucial for a comfortable and enjoyable visit. Here are some tips to help you stay cool:
Plan Ahead
- Visit During Cooler Months: If possible, plan your trip during the cooler months (November to February).
- Arrive Early: Arrive at the parks early in the morning when it’s cooler and less crowded.

Stay Hydrated
- Drink Water Frequently: Carry a reusable water bottle (here’s my favorite, which has a filter!) and refill it at refill stations throughout the parks. Free cups of water are available at any counter-service restaurant.
- Electrolyte Packets: Consider bringing electrolyte packets (my favorites here) to keep your Florida water tasty and, of course, to just stay hydrated.
Dress Appropriately
- Lightweight Clothing: Wear light-colored, loose-fitting, and breathable fabrics. You can see some of my favorite park clothes for hot, humid days here.
- Hats and Sunglasses: Wear a hat and UV-protective sunglasses to shield yourself from the sun.
Use Cooling Products
- Cooling Towels: Bring cooling towels or neck wraps that you can wet and wear around your neck. We have these and hand them around our neck on those hot days.
- Portable Fans: Small, handheld fans, misting fans or stroller fans can provide relief from the heat.

Take Advantage of Air Conditioning
- Indoor Attractions: Schedule breaks by visiting indoor attractions, shows, shops and restaurants with air conditioning.
Use Sun Protection
- Sunscreen: Apply a high-SPF sunscreen generously and reapply throughout the day.
Plan Breaks
11. Midday Breaks: Take a break during the hottest part of the day (12 PM – 4 PM) by returning to your hotel for a nap or a swim.

Utilize Technology
12. My Disney Experience App: Use the app to check wait times and manage Lightning Lane Selections (if you purchased Genie+) to minimize standing in long lines. Also consider purchasing Individual Lightning Lane selections where applicable to avoid waiting in long lines for those popular rides.
Choose Cooler Activities
- Water Rides: Schedule water rides like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (opening June 28, 2024) or Kali River Rapids during the hottest parts of the day.
- Splash Pads: Save time to play at the splash pads inside the parks, like Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station at Magic Kingdom or Journey of Water in Epcot.
- Water Parks: Spend some time at water parks like Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. Remember that is 2025, you can spend your checkin day at one of the water parks for free!

Stay Informed
- Park Maps: Familiarize yourself with park maps to locate cooling stations, water fountains, and shaded areas.
I hope these tips help you handle the heat at Disney World on your next magical vacation.
Happy planning!
